Rights Remain With or Without Pandemic

https://www.voicesofyouth.org/blog/same-human-rights-children

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all of us are to stay at home. It has a big impact on our work, and this might affect the achievement of our shared vision of a world without violence against children. As the virus continues to spread across the world, we are all facing multiple new stresses, including physical and psychological health risks, school and business closures, family confinement, isolation and economic vulnerability. Through all of that, children are particularly vulnerable.

As the COVID‑19 crisis spreads around the world, it is transforming children’s day-to-day lives. The pandemic and the associated policy responses of confinement and social distancing touch on almost every part of children’s worlds. COVID‑19 directly affects formal care arrangements, education and leisure services offered by early childhood services, schools and other organizations are interrupted. Recognising that the impacts of these measures will hit some groups of children harder than others is critical. These groups of vulnerable children include children living in poverty, children with disabilities, children in out-home care, children in detention, and also refugee children and children at risk of child labour. Furthermore, the pandemic has the potential to create new vulnerable children and countries must prepare to respond to growing needs for support. To a varying extent, these issues intersect with income poverty and poor housing, with the common denominator being that children in poorer families are more exposed.

Let us not also forget that the children’s' are also having a hard time. They also need to be taken care of in situations like this, they shouldn't feel like a burden and feel like their rights are snatched from theirs. Be mindful of the words you say and the things you do. Treasure the children while also respecting their rights.

Saving the Earth is Saving Ourselves

https://www.123rf.com/photo_121787494_stock-vector-people-care-about-planet-clean-and-water-it-the-concept-of-the-earth-day-flat-vector-illustration.html

Environment plays an important role in healthy living and the existence of life on planet earth. Earth is a home for different living species and we all are dependent on the environment for food, air, water, and other needs. Therefore, it is important for every individual to save and protect our environment. But as we face the future, our environment is slowly getting worse. Polluted air and water, carbon emission and deforestation. These are already hard but these are only few of the things we have experienced. We should be more responsible of taking care of our environment and consider our everyday actions.

As teenagers, sometimes we feel helpless and powerless, unable to take action, or do things that really matter to us, since governments and large corporations are the ones taking vital decisions. While major changes are only possible if countries and corporations alter their policies and actions, we as individuals also have the potential to make a difference, whether through small actions, or larger initiatives. And here are some things we can do to engage the community to be more environmentally conscious:

Become more aware of resources and start by living with a greater awareness of the resources that you use in your daily life. Pay attention to how you choose to heat, to travel, to use water, and use products that were made by manufacturing practices. With your new awareness of how natural resources are used in your life, start to practice conservation. It can be as simple as turning off the lights as you leave a room and as complex as making different choices when it comes to building your home. You can also Plant small trees around your home and don’t cut trees unless it’s necessary; work with local environmental groups to plant more trees and educate others about the positive aspects of it. And lastly do not forget about the 3R's, which are reducing, reusing and recycling. Reduce simply means reducing what is produced and what is consumed. Reuse items for a different purpose instead of sending them to landfills. To recycle something means that it will be transformed again into a raw material that can be shaped into a new item.

It may seem like it's impossible to do these things, but as long as you trust and you believe in yourself you can do it! Everything starts within themselves, so do not be afraid to share your knowledge to other people so that they can reflect on what they are doing and help take care of our environment. A simple thing that we do can affect our environment, may it be just simply throwing your garbage in the road or in the water. It is not too late to help in making our environment better.

My ICT First Quarter As a 10th Grade

Our first quarter is near to end, and for this blog I want to share how my first quarter of TLE-ICT went. During my 10th grade here in ISNHS we learned about the net, internet and the web. We have learned about its history, the people behind the development of the internet and the pioneers on the development of the internet through their genre. I have also learned about the internet services and tools, a web browser and a web server and types of data found on the internet. And what I'm doing right now is also from one of our lessons!(blogging)

But it isn't always happy; there are also bad days and problems. Sometimes, I lack time and I worry about my time management. I also worry about the blogs I passed, because sometimes it's hard to create one or you can say I'm having a writer's block. I also laze around and get no work done, and that kinds of scares me since I am already in 10th grade and I know should be more productive and strong because this is only the start.

And in order to be better I have to face these challenges. If I worry about my time management, I would sometimes work overtime so that I won't cram and worry about it but I also keep track of my schedules and try to follow it. I always make sure to write a schedule so that everything is more organized. And if ever I have a writer's block or can't think of anything to write, I always rest and give myself a treat so that I would relax and get my work done easier. I always try to be productive as possible and get as many tasks done as I could, but I really can't help myself to laze around. But if I do that I make sure that my tasks are done and only few are needed to be answered.

Moving on, I will try to be a better student while keeping these lessons in my heart and mind. There may be up's and down's, but I know this would be a good memory to remember and I think this was a fun class. I get to know more ideas and gain knowledge too! I think this blogging lesson is really good for it also enhance our writing abilities while addressing issues happening around us. It was a bit hard but I had fun.

Distance Learning as The New Normal

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected a big part of our lives as a student. One of the factors that it affects is our education. A lot of safety measures are implemented and it includes social distancing. For us not to get the virus while studying, the department of education decided to do distance learning. Online and modular classes are the new normal education of the students in the Philippines this pandemic.

This type of education was very new to everyone. Some agreed, some didn't, but most students were overwhelmed. To access activities and such, students need to have a phone, a tablet or a laptop, but not everyone can afford it. Some student didn't have a phone; tablet or laptop which has become their problem, if not having a phone the other students doesn’t have internet connection or data. Students submit their activities by passing it online or by parents bringing it to the school. A lot of students were pressured and some parents were worried for there is news about a student who committed suicide after their teacher rejected their unfinished module. Every student’s mental health became bad or it became worse. Even though COVID-19 has disrupted education by forcing school closures and impacting the lives of children, leaders still do not seem to recognize the important role that education plays in our society.

Education is a long-term investment which will repay our societies in the future. We need critical thinking and innovation in order for the youth today to be ready to face the challenges of the near future. This pandemic is an obstacle we need to take down, for us to have a better life. Education has been there ever since we were young and little, expanding our knowledge for us to be a great and wiser person. Now more than ever we need to recognize that education is the basis of the achievement of a fair, sustainable, and resilient society.

Scars of a Country

Every country faces a lot of challenges. And as for the Philippines, it also faces hardships. It may concern our health, the politics, or the country itself. And as the saying goes “Sometimes you have to go through darkness to get to the light.” Being strong and overcoming hardships are one of the greatest things in life.

Right now one of the challenges faced by our country is the COVID-19 pandemic. Right now we are a country that is struggling to keep its economy afloat. Families are worried about their lives and their living and there are a lot of anxious citizens. Distancing apart and quarantine have been the new normal. And because of this, people have no choice but to stay at home. The pandemic is indeed a battle for everyone, a lot suffered and died. But the pandemic is not the only challenge that the Philippines have faced. There is also poverty and natural calamities. The Philippines often experience calamities and disasters but despite that, most people remain positive for they are immune on such circumstances. Well maybe other survivors are able to cope up, others might feel anxious and might react negatively. And this might lead to mental health problems. Talking about mental health, the mental health of people became worse during this pandemic. The pandemic itself, social isolation, and general fear and uncertainty have majorly affected the mental health of everyone. A lot are stressed, anxious, and depressed, and due to the lock downs during this pandemic, the employment rate hovered around 5% but it worsened as time goes by. And as a result of increased unemployment the poverty has risen.

With some of these challenges faced by the Philippines, let us hope to solve all of them. With the right leader leading the country, everything will settle on its right place. Let us be strong and brave. Let us help our country to be better and more prosperous than ever. A country that will be admired by everyone and a home to each and every Filipino.

Pride Of The President That Kills

https://nypost.com/2020/12/04/philippines-police-threaten-social-distancing-violators-with-caning/

Good Day Mr. President! Back then I really liked you as our President, because the people around me cheered you up and supported you. But as I grow up, things kind of change. A lot of things happened and they are either good or bad. Last year a pandemic happened, where millions of lives were ruined. And I think you have forgotten your duty as the President.

The pandemic, which you failed to manage, was killing a lot of people. The budget that you have, millions and billions, but the situation from the start till now didn't even change. Mr. President, you have abandoned us. Giving us little cash aid to test, isolate, and treat COVID-19 surges. I saw a lot of people who died and suffered a lot. Not only the patients suffered, but also a of the front liners. Everyone is having a hard time, mentally and physically.

Mr. President, please listen to us. Enough with politics of division. Let me ask you sir, are you really okay to live in a failing country? Your pride is killing us. Please stop killing us.

The Big World and Myslef

The world is so big and is filled with different creatures, but we all know human is the most superior in all the creatures. And being a part of this world gives me joy for I have the opportunity to experience this so called life. Having the opportunity to have friends and a loving family. Being able to do things your own way, while building yourself from the experiences. And by being 'myself' in a big big world.

I am Beatrice Syrel Frio. I am fifteen years old and the first of the three children in the family. I have a younger sister and a younger brother, and no words can describe my adoration to those two. I love them so much and I treasure them, though sometimes they can be quite annoying. I am currently in 10th grade and I am studying at Ilocos Sur National High School. I still couldn't think of any course that I would like to get after I finish high school, and that kinds of worry me, but that doesn't stop me from studying hard. My hobbies include listening to music, reading and drawing. Ever since the pandemic happened, I started to improve my drawing skills and decided to focus on myself more. I am not an outgoing person and I only have a few friends. Friendship and family mean a lot to me, they make me strong and they give me inspirations. I can say that I am a positive person, since I always look at the goodness and kindness of everyone. Although everyone is different in their own way, I try my best to be humble and kind regardless of their age, gender, sexuality and race.

I am happy for who I am because I know that all of us are unique in our own way. We are all deserving of love and respect. Also treasure the people around you and cherish them. Make yourself happy, away from toxic and negative things. And lastly, I will do everything to make my family proud, and that is why I work hard to achieve my goals with a smile on my face.
